for over ninety years. They have been offering a family of appliances engineered
to meet and exceed expectations, aesthetic design and affordable quality products.

Frigidaire home products is ranked third among American manufacturers of white
goods or household appliances, with a full spectrum of branded appliances including
refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, air conditioners and so much more.
Frigidaire was originally owned and operated as a division of the automobile
giant General Motors Corporation. Throughout the first half century of its business
life the company had a reputation as one of the appliance industry's most innovative
companies. It was acquired by White Consolidated Industries (WCI) in the late
1970s.
Frigidaire appliances first appeared in the Canadian market as far back as
the early 1920s all imported from the USA. Then company operated sales offices
and warehouses started distribution in various parts of Canada. Demand and sales
grew and an assembly plant and warehouse were established. Frigidaire’s
history of expansion and success continued over the years making it a household
name.
As an aside I would like to share with you the fact that two refrigerators
dating back to 1925 and 1928 are amongst the oldest operating Frigidaire refrigerators
in America, while in Canada you can find them in many places including Ontario,
still ticking along steadily, as good as the day they were bought and well past
retirement age. These results were the outcome of a contest held to find the
oldest functioning refrigerators and top marks to Frigidaire for coming through
swimmingly!
In the early 1950s Frigidaire relocated to Toronto, Ontario and the rest as
they say is history. The wide range of Frigidaire appliances produced at the
plant including refrigerators, household electric ranges, food freezers, automatic
washers, electric clothes dryers, dishwashers, built-in appliances like wall
ovens, electric dehumidifiers, compressors, cooling units, refrigeration controls,
air conditioners, ice cream cabinets, beverage coolers, water coolers reach-in
refrigerators, milk coolers, biological refrigerators and frozen food cabinets
are all in use in Ontario, Canada.
In Ontario as elsewhere the retail food stores use Frigidaire equipment extensively
to store and display various types of refrigerated food items. Hotels and restaurants
use Frigidaire extensively to air condition their outlets and store beverages,
make ice and preserve food. Locker storage plants also use Frigidaire equipment
for the purposes of retail display, quick-freezing foods and for low temperature
cooling of locker rooms. Then there is the use in bakeries to preserve perishable
ingredients. In Ontario the apartment houses are some of Frigidaire’s
best customers using household refrigerators in individual or multiple units.
Next we have the hospitals and other institutions that use Frigidaire equipment
for a wide variety of purposes – in blood banks, mortuaries, biological
cabinet refrigerators, ice-making and food preservation. Business offices too
use Frigidaire air conditioning and Frigidaire water coolers.
With such a strong presence in Canada, Ontario, Frigidaire is one of the best
household names in the white goods industry.
